Here are some of Tom's Favorite quotes used in training and coaching situations; many have lost attribution over many years of common use.

Life is not a dress rehearsal. Don't wait for the "perfect time" or when you are 100% comfortable before stepping out. That time will often not come, and opportunities will be missed.

Sometimes you don't get to pick. Get used to it.

You don't learn from experience, but from the analysis of experience.

Tom Holton earned a “seat at the table” in a 500-member organization where he was involved in the planning and contributed to strategy. He has been part of an HR team delivering the fundamentals. Today in his consulting role, Tom will work with you to identify where you want to go and help find ways to get there. Or you may already know you have a performance gap—a difference between what should be happening and what is—and you want to reduce or remove that gap. We will work together to identify or clarify your goals and find alternative methods to reach them.

Throughout our collaboration we will tie these efforts to measurable results and ensure a connection to business and financial results.

Tom Holton draws from a background in training, performance improvement, human resources, innovation methods and problem-solving to help individuals, managers and organizations achieve better results. Tom’s work experience includes Marriott Corporation in Washington, D.C., Wendy's International, in Dublin, Ohio, and the Ross Division of Abbott Laboratories in Columbus, Ohio. His consulting business includes a role as Executive Director of Leadership Dublin, a non-profit community leadership training program. Tom also consults with small business and many individuals who seek his expertise.

Tom comments on this background; “Perspectives and knowledge gained working in three Fortune 500 corporations gives me a wide range of experience from which to draw. Each company was in a different business segment, which added breadth to that background. I draw from this reservoir for illustrations providing comparison and contrast as I work with management teams to identify gaps, develop alternatives to remove or reduce those gaps. My Marine Corps service including an interservice tour with the Navy has come in very handy in some situations. The end result with clients is a better level of performance and better results.”

Working with volunteers in the Boy Scouting program for over 10 years is an additional element of Tom’s life which contributes to the portfolio. “Volunteers can walk away any time they are unhappy or dissatisfied with your leadership, management style, and direction. Recruiting, training and leading volunteers is a different set of skills from those we see and train in the corporate business setting.”
